Interested in joining the HER group?
The HER group is always looking for enthusiastic, respectful, and motivated PhD students rooted in firm technical backgrounds that are passionate about water resiliency, self-sufficiency, and environmental sustainability to join the group at the University of Arizona. Our research is highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary, and works with industry, municipalities, government, and other research groups on taking a system-level approach to decarbonize the water and energy sector to realize waste streams as a circular resource. Students in our group have backgrounds in environmental, chemical, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering and like disciplines including chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. What can you expect/what are the expectations as a student in the HER group: -publish research in peer reviewed journals (3-5 for PhDs, 1-2 for MS) -participate in weekly group meetings -conduct experimental and/or modeling work and analyze data -work independently and collaboratively with others -participate in project specific meetings with collaborators -attend and present their research to the broader community at scientific conferences and other forums -mentor undergraduates -prepare a professional development plan and meet regularly with advisor to go over short-term and long-term goals and accomplishments ...and more
